Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of PDF Chroma at pdfchroma.com. By using the site, you agree to them. They're written in plain language on purpose — this is a small, free tool, not an enterprise SaaS product with a legal department.

What PDF Chroma is

PDF Chroma is a free tool for merging, splitting, compressing, converting, and otherwise working with PDF files. It's provided as-is, with no account required and no cost to use.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Upload files containing illegal content, or use the service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, or abuse the service (for example, automated bulk requests intended to degrade performance for other users)
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, file size limits, or other technical safeguards
  • Use the service to process files you don't have the legal right to possess or modify

We reserve the right to block access for anyone abusing the service.

No warranty

PDF Chroma is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do our best to keep conversions accurate and the service reliable, but we don't guarantee:

  • That every conversion will be perfectly accurate or free of formatting differences from the original
  • That the service will be available at all times, without interruption
  • That password protection or encryption features are suitable for any specific security or compliance requirement you may have

If you're working with critical or sensitive documents, always keep your own backup of the original file before processing it, and verify the result before relying on it.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PDF Chroma and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service — including but not limited to data loss, conversion errors, or service downtime. You use the service at your own discretion and risk.

Your files, your responsibility

You are solely responsible for the content of any files you upload, and for ensuring you have the right to upload and process them. Files are deleted automatically after processing (see our Privacy Policy for details) — we do not retain copies, so keep your own backups of anything important.

Open source

The code powering PDF Chroma is open source and available on GitHub under the MIT License. You're welcome to review it, self-host your own instance, or contribute.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
